DJ Mag Top 100 Voting Begins

August 3, 2008

Filed under: News — Chris @ 2:42 pm

DJ Mag 2008

It’s that time of year again: DJ Mag Top 100 voting! Seems like I just finished clearing my inbox of last year’s newsletters and artist e-mails asking for votes, but it has indeed been almost a full year.

This past year had me traveling across Canada, the United States, and over into Europe to perform at such world class venue’s as The Docks in Toronto, Stereo in Montreal, Vinyl in Denver, and even 3 dates at Winter Music Conference in Miami. On the production side, I’ve had 3 remixes come out, most recently a vinyl release on AVA Recordings, as well as a monthly radio show on the trance channel of DI.fm. On top of all this I’ve also been managing successful record label AVA Recordings alongside Andy Moor, scouring the globe for the best tunes.

This year the voting is sponsored by digital download site Trackitdown.net, offering up a free track from their website worth (£1.49) and a free digital copy of DJ Mag! To take advantage of this great offer just place your vote and check your email for the confirmation which will contain more information. Voting is free and is relatively painless (save a few e-mails from DJ Mag over the coming months) and quite easy. Just head over to DJ Mag and cast your vote for your top 5 candidates.

Results announced at a glittering party in London on Wednesday 29th of October. Best of luck to all candidates this year!

Eric Tadla of EnMass: R.I.P.

July 28, 2008

Filed under: News — Chris @ 4:58 pm

I opened my e-mail inbox this morning to a very sad and upsetting e-mail from Randy Boyer. Together, he and Eric Tadla were the production duo known as EnMass.

I¹m sorry to be writing you this letter, but I have some extremely bad news to share with you. My production partner of over 8 years, and great friend Eric Tadla passed away this past Saturday night. He was the other half of EnMass and one of the greatest musicians I have ever met. We composed over 60 songs together, and shared a beautiful 8 years. I am still in shock. As hard as this is, I know it¹s my obligation to let you know. Eric was a great person, with a huge heart and always escaped from life by making music, and I know that he would want to have his music to live on, which I know it will. Please feel free to pass this information along to anyone you think should know. I wish you the best in these tough times. Keep in touch.

Being a great fan of EnMass myself, having played many of their tracks over the years, this was terrible to hear of. I’m strong friends with Randy personally and he’s always spoke extremely highly of Eric and of how great a musician he was.

I would like to offer our sympathies and respects to Eric’s wife and child, Randy, and to all of the fans and supporters who enjoyed his music.

I feel it appropriate to end this story with none other than Eric’s best friend Randy, and his heartfelt statement posted on Trance.nu. We will all miss you Eric.

It’s hard to put in words feelings and emotions that overwhelm you. Eric was a brother to me, and he left us some amazing music to remember him by. It was an honor to work with such an amazing person. He would be really happy to see how many people thought of him the way you guys do, so thank you for all the support. RIP Eric Tadla. Love yea buddy, you will always be missed.

rZ and Suhaib - Delirious Moments (Chris Allen remix)

May 25, 2008

Filed under: News — Chris @ 11:04 pm

I was asked to remix a track called “Delirious Moments” a little while ago by Toronto and London (UK) producers, rZ and Suhaib. Fresh off their release “Attitude”, I accepted the opportunity and recently finished up the mix. Available in July, the remix is pretty summer themed with a nice gritty bassline.

Feel free to check out a sample on my MySpace page and let me know what you think.
